Samsung Devices Receiving Updates in Week 33, 2025

During the week spanning August 11 to August 15, several Samsung devices received notable software updates. The following devices were updated:

1. Galaxy S24 Series:

   - Samsung began rolling out the August security patch with firmware versions S921BXXS4BYH2 (Galaxy S24), S926BXXS4BYH2 (Galaxy S24+), and S928BXXS4BYH2 (Galaxy S24 Ultra). The update originated in South Korea and has now begun spreading across Europe.

   - The security patch addresses one critical vulnerability and 28 high-risk Android vulnerabilities. It also fixes three previously discovered bugs unrelated to device performance and resolves 18 software vulnerabilities tied to Samsung services, such as incorrect permission management in Samsung Account and issues with emergency mode (SoS).

2. Galaxy S23 Series:

   - The version ending in DYG8 was first made available in South Korea. This update carries similar fixes to those provided for the Galaxy S24 series.

3. Galaxy Tab S10 Series:

   - With firmware version ending BYH1, the Tab S10 also received the August security patch, initially released in Samsung's home market.

4. Galaxy Note20 Series:

   - While this series is receiving a July security patch rather than the August update, it enhances device reliability and security. Firmware versions N981NKSS9HYG5 (Note20) and N986NKSS9HYG5 (Note20 Ultra) are currently available in South Korea.

5. Galaxy A14 (MediaTek version):

This device is now receiving the stable One UI 7 update, carrying firmware version A145RXXUADYGC, with a hefty download size of over 2.5 GB. The rollout has started across Europe.

Samsung Galaxy Buds3 FE vs. Buds3 Pro: A Detailed Comparison

This week, Samsung unveiled its new wireless headphones, the Galaxy Buds3 FE, aimed at achieving a balance between affordability and premium features. These headphones build upon last year's Galaxy Buds FE with upgrades in design, sound quality, noise cancellation capabilities, and battery life. Below is a closer look at how they differ from the premium Galaxy Buds3 Pro:

1. Design & Build:

   - The Buds3 FE adopt the signature stem design of the Galaxy Buds3 series, featuring swipe and pinch gestures for easy operation. They retain silicone ear tips for improved fit but differ by sporting a matte finish instead of Blade Lights LED strips found in the Pro version.

   - Additionally, they boast an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance.

2. Audio Performance:

   - The Buds3 FE are equipped with single 11mm dynamic drivers tuned for punchy bass and clear highs. Meanwhile, the Buds3 Pro features dual drivers (10.5mm dynamic + 6.5mm planar magnetic) for a richer and more detailed audio experience.

3. Call Quality:

   - Each Buds3 FE earbud houses six strategically placed microphones to enhance voice isolation powered by AI, ensuring clearer calls even in noisy environments.

4. Supported Codecs:

   - Buds3 FE: AAC, SBC, SSC

   - Buds3 Pro: Includes SSC UHQ codec (24-bit/96kHz) for high-definition audio streaming.

5. Noise Cancellation:

   - Buds3 FE: Offers active noise cancellation (ANC) up to 32 dB and Ambient mode for situational awareness.

   - Buds3 Pro: Features adaptive ANC that dynamically adjusts based on surroundings.

6. Smart Features:

   - The Buds3 FE introduce Galaxy AI features like real-time translations, music playback control, and vision-based functionalities like email message checking via Gemini assistant.

   - Buds3 Pro adds specialized capabilities such as adaptive equalizer settings, siren/alarm detection, and LED Blade Lights.

7. Battery Life & Charging:

   - Each Buds3 FE earbud houses a 53mAh battery, with the case offering 515mAh capacity. Expected playtime is up to 8.5 hours without ANC and 30 hours with case usage. With ANC enabled, endurance drops to 6 hours (buds) and 24 hours (case).

   - The case supports USB-C charging but lacks wireless charging functionality found in the Buds3 Pro.

Key Differences Summary

- Drivers: Dual setup in Buds3 Pro vs single dynamic driver in Buds3 FE.

- Codecs: Pro includes SSC UHQ for high-res audio streaming.

- Features: Adaptive ANC and Blade Lights exclusive to the Buds3 Pro.

- Charging: Pro supports wireless charging; FE skips this feature.

Galaxy S26 Pro: The New Leader in Compact Smartphones?

The basic Galaxy S2x models have often been viewed as “second-tier” despite being part of Samsung's flagship lineup. However, an upcoming rebranding could change perceptions drastically. It seems Samsung is making small yet impactful adjustments to its Galaxy S series portfolio.

The company is reportedly consolidating its lineup with possible changes to naming conventions. The Ultra remains, while the Plus model will replace the Edge variant, and the base model will carry the Pro nickname. This small shift makes sense strategically especially since the new Edge version may lack a telephoto lens, allowing the Pro model to outperform it in terms of features while still sitting below the more advanced Ultra variant.

What Features Are Expected?

The Galaxy S26 Pro is anticipated to have a 6.27-inch display, a slight upgrade from the 6.2-inch screen found in the Galaxy S25. This indicates thinner bezels and better screen-to-body ratios (up from Galaxy S25's already impressive 91.1%), likely keeping the device's chassis size the same.

Battery capacity is one highlight here, with leaked specs suggesting an increase to 4,300 mAh (up by 300 mAh over Galaxy S25’s 4,000 mAh). Sources seem to confirm this improvement. Furthermore, rumors point to all Galaxy S26 models featuring an additional NFC antenna at the top, ensuring smoother mobile payments and file transfers a feature comparable to iPhones.

The phones are expected to be powered by either the next-gen Exynos 2600 (likely for Galaxy S26 Pro) or Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite 2 (reserved for Galaxy S26 Ultra). Galaxy S26 Pro could pack up to 12 GB RAM alongside a maximum internal storage of 512 GB. Also noteworthy is wireless Qi charging with magnetic alignment, offering users enhanced convenience with charging setups. Despite an official launch slated for early 2026, anticipation for the series remains high.

Beware of AI Insights Fraud on Google Chrome

Earlier this year, Google launched AI Overviews within its Chrome search engine designed to simplify searches by summarizing critical information upfront. While the feature saves time by offering concise overviews and direct links, it has begun attracting scammers who exploit its ease of use.

So how can fraudsters misuse AI Overviews? Say you search for the "best exchanges in the world"—you get a clear list of recommendations, comparisons, and helpful links. It seems harmless enough until you come across cases where AI-generated results include fake phone numbers purporting to belong to customer service lines. Many online users, including those on Reddit, report incidents where victims unknowingly called these fraudulent numbers, providing sensitive details or banking information—falling directly into scammers' traps.

This poses significant challenges for Google. While it detects and blocks known fraudulent numbers and continues fine-tuning its algorithms, the threat persists for users unaware of such risks. The safest strategy? Seek company contact details directly from their official websites instead of relying on AI-generated results blindly.
